![]() ![]() My policy is to not install anything from 3rd party sites, no matter how good the assets are claimed to be or how reliable the site "appears" to be. I always include in the description of my uploaded routes a note stating that all assets are on the DLS or built in. Today CM will flag non-DLS installed assets as "3rd party" so there is no excuse. That frustrated me no end so now if I download a route that has assets that are not included in Trainz or on the DLS then I simply delete it. So there was often no acknowledgement in the routes description of 3rd party assets and where to find them. It was also too easy in those days to upload a route with foreign assets without realising it - there was no "3rd party" status flag in what was the early equivalent of CM back then. I also used 3rd party assets in my very early days but quickly realised the dangers of that. I don't know how anyone could estimate the number of TTE fans, given their most common age demographic, who would be interested in buying a fully fledged railway simulator just to get TTE? I hasten to add that I am not a TTE fan! The current most expensive DLC pack is $US39.99, plus the cost of TRS19 (basic version) which can be as high as $US69.99 (but can be on sale for far less), puts a hefty price tag on buying a TTE simulator. The players have asked for it and we have delivered Trainz Multiplayer. How much would that affect the price of the TTE DLC pack? Trainz Simulator 12 - Build And Operate The Railroad Of Your Dreams. With Your FriendsTrainz Simulator 12, Now With MultiplayerTS12 includes the most exciting new feature in the history of Trainz. Probably licencing fees, restrictions on use, a percentage of sales to the licence holder (which as of 2011 is Mattel, the toy maker), etc. Trainz is not such a big player in the gaming market to make that effort justifiable and economic. We would all end up paying the bill through higher prices and probably more anti-piracy protection (DRM is more than enough for some). cdp files without a large (and expensive) legal department to pursue violators, through the courts if necessary (add more $$$$) and across different jurisdictions (even more $$$$). ![]() I really don't see how Auran/N3V could prevent 3rd party sites from hosting. Many of these assets are DLS, but even if they are not, the creators make every effort to ensure there are links to needed dependencies, and, if you have any missing, you can post in their thread for help. Also msgsapper, grazlash, whamm0 and many others. Philskene is a great one if you like Model Railroad layouts. ![]() But there are some outstanding route creators on the DLS that only use assets from DLS. The big hitch is probably routes, which often have outside and hard to find dependencies. This is not 100%, as some assets get uploaded with outside dependencies, but your chances are better. There is a world of content, and for the most part, if any dependencies are needed they will also be available on the DLS and you can just right-click on any that say "Available for Download" and select "Download". From your launch window select "Manage Content", and then change the filter setting at the top left from "Installed" to "Download station. Best place to start is probably the Download Station. ![]()
